Screaming death over North Africa and the med.
This is an excellent book. The information over all is tight and well explained. The photo's are the book's real strength and the amount and the content are both very interesting. There are 12 pages of color plates atthe back showing many different paint designs that the Ju-87 had in theregions. as well as some pilots. My only real complaint is that there wasnot enough information on the crews that flew there. But the book is stilla riveting read, especially if you have not read much on the topic before. ... Horrible!
Yes, Will, why German's on the cover & not citizen soldier's of whom, this garbage is full?
Tons of fortgetable pictures
This book DOES have tons of pictures of the Eastern Front. But the majority of them are typical pictures of non-combat operations. The term "the unpublished photographs" leads one to believe this collection of photos is special or rare. Well I'm here to say that they my be 'rare' but they are definately unspecial. Very boring shots of men standing here or there, shots of equipment and soldersmarching across landscape. But zero pictures of the combat horrors in which the eastern front well known for. If you want endless undescript photos of Russians, buy this book. If you want action photos of quality, search elsewhere.

Excellent Overview
This book is another masterful piece of writing continuing the story of the Napoleonic era from 1808-1812.In less than 90 pages, it captures the political thought and military preparedness of each country.It explains why countries went to war. Small Armies that may go Unnoticed
This publication is of a high quality, and fills a gap in military history in the West. The armies of the Balkan countries are often overlooked whem World War One is discussed. This small book provides the reader with a basic insight into the organisation and capabilities of the Balkan armies. It is recommended for those who wish to gain greater understanding of the role the Balkan armies played in World War One.

Excellent Osprey Title
First of all, to the previous reviewer, the Central Powers were no more the aggressors than Russia, and any attempt to claim otherwise is itself revisionist. Austria-Hungary was simply trying to deal with an affront by a weaker nation, which it had every right to do.That said, this title is one of the best of the Men-at-Arms series.The illustrations are very well done, and it manages to include good basic information about a large number of countries in the small space of the format.The plates all seem to be fairly representative, with the possible exception of Austro-Hungarian forces.The bias of the author toward Serbia is apparent, however it is no more biased than some of the other titles in the Osprey series, such as the Campaign study of Mons.Overall, the plates are what define any Men-at-Arms book, and the plates in Armies in the Balkans are excellent.

Most people are not aware of how much combat experience the Indian Army gained in the 20th Century, mostly due to its involvement under British control in the First and Second World Wars.This volume of Osprey's Elite series offers a glimpse, albeit succinct, into the oft-neglected Indian Army of the world wars.While this volume does provide excellent plates on uniform details, as one would expect from Osprey, the text falls far short of the daunting task of recounting 33 years of Indian military history.Indeed, the author's tendency to meander around the subject provides for a very lop-sided account, in which much space is wasted on minor subjects of interest to the author and other subjects of more general interest are virtually ignored.Read more

Those of you who know Robert Taylor's art work will know what to expectfrom this book. Those of you don't, then you will be treated to some superbsketches and paintings which mainly focus on World War 2 aviation scences.Taylor has an excellent eye for detail and realism and researchs hissubject(s) to ensure that his paintings are more than just realistic, theyare factual. In this book he talks about how some of his paintings weredone, along with comments from some of his subjects such as Adolf Galland,Townsend, Johnnie Johnson etc. The book includes 24 of his paintings,including some of my favourites "Dambusters","JG-52","Victory over Dunkirk" all of which are on good quality paper.This is a quality book which displays the master's work and the master atwork and highly recommended, although some may find the price a littleprohibitive. ...
